Has anyone seen this? I love the soundtrack and the 10th anniversary concert DVD. I was going to see it in April but JOJ is on holiday and theres no way I'm seeing anyone else as Valjean!

I''ve seen the musical, a few film adaptions, and read the book. IMO, the novel is great, and the musical nearly lives up tp its legend.
And yes, I've heard JOJ as Valjean was a great casting choice

I'd be interested to hear Michael Crawford sing Bring Him Home. JOJ would be 100 times better though!

I'm hoping my bootleg guy will get hold of his final performance as its a really good recording from what I've seen on youtube. I have one of him in 2002 with Celia Graham who I also adore.
If I could see Earl and Celia together in April (with the lovely Michael Xavier!!!) I would be in heaven!

I've booked to see this on the 16th June! Hopefully I'll finally get to see JOJ live and meet him.

Right in the middle of my exams but never mind!

Haha, I did that with Jekyll & Hyde last year--they had a performance during the day and then at midnight. I skipped my math final exam, saw it at noon, and then again at midnight Razz

I finally go on saturday! I equally excited about going to London as I am about seeing Les Mis! Shopping, Les Mis then a trip to Her Majestys to see if I can spot anybody arriving for the evening performance. Perfection!

I have 2 exams to get through first tomorrow though. How I'm going to concentrate during my french exam I don't know, I'll just be thinking 'Les Miserables tomorrow!!'

I met JOJ! I can't believe it, what a guy!

Anyway, the show was great, only not as great as Phantom!

There are no words to describe how good JOJ was, he was just perfect. I liked how all of the charcters were being played too, its a really good cast, but most of them leave on the 23rd. There was an understudy on as Marius which was a shame because I wanted to meet Jon Lee. (he was in the British pop group S Club 7, buy I doubt any of you have heard of them!)

Little Cosette was so small! Her voice didn't sound like she had had much training so I'm convinced she really was only about 5 or 6 years old.

The way they did Javert's suicide was fantastic, where he 'jumps' off the bridge and the bridge itself rises in the air, making it look like Javert is falling.

The finale was really sad (as were many other parts) and there was a standing ovation at the end.

I went to the stage door afterwards. Its very hard when you're not familiar with a cast because its hard to recognise them, but I stopped Enjolras/Simon Bailey who was very sweet and he signed my programme and posed for a photo. I also got my programme signed by Tracie Bennett who played Madame Thenardier.
JOJ took ages to come out and he was obviously very tired and/or having a bad day but he still signed and posed for a picutre. I got to tell him to his face how good his album is!

Here the JOJ photo!

(thats as small as i can get it....sorry!)

OMG, congrats! I'm glad you liked it!! I love JOJ! He was my all time favorite Phantom, seconded ONLY by Gary Mauer. What a great opportunity! And I love the Cosettes of any production. Her character was my favorite in the novel, along with Eponine.
And I love that picture--JOJ's beard has grown since I last saw him...

There should be a warning though about the gunshots on the barricade-the whole audience jumped out of their seats!

For the first time, I actually liked the character of Eponine. Sabrina Alouche does for Eponine what Michael Xavier does for Raoul I think! Makes them tolerable!

It was torture going to Her Majestys and not being able to go in though. The fact that Earl seems to have been ill all week made it a little easier to walk away though. Michael Xavier walked past me outside the theatre (with a girl, holding her hand!), but I didn't see him in time to stop him and say hi.

I saw the school edition of this last night. It was ok, but I was finding so many faults. Its annoying when you know something so well that you notice every note that they don't hit!
The girl playing Fantine wasn't, in my opinion, playing the part right. I could have done a better job (apart from the singing Laughing ), not that I'm biased or jealous or anything!
Eponine was very good though, and Cosette had a beautiful voice, that did seem a little weak at times, but her acting didn't impress me. Yes, I can be very harsh sometimes!
Valjean was fantastic, his voice was great. His voice started to go in Who Am I though and he had to keep clearing his throat. I felt so sorry for him. He managed to sort it out in time for that long note at the end though!
I must say, its quite disturbing watching 12/13 year old girls playing prostitutes in Lovely Ladies. Shocked
