Maybe anyone of you has seen this movie? It's musical, but not typical one. I've watched it a while ago and I'm still crying. 'Dancer in the Dark' is story of Czechoslovakian woman, Selma, who is living in USA with her son. She works in the factory and after the work she is making hair clips because she needs money for son's operation. She is almost blind and she wants to save the boy from this same fate. Her only hobby are musicals. When everything is bad, Selma runs away into her world of song and dance. She is singing even in most tragical moments. I mean really tragical. Maybe it sounds strange, but... I found it even sadder and heart-wrenching than Phantom. It's not spectacular, there are no falling chandeliers, or overwhelming orchestral music. It's simple, but it's ripping your heart off. I won't recommend it, or something. Yet I think it is one of best movies I ever seen.

It is from 2000, or 2001, quite new thing. Bjork, who also composed music, plays the main role, she is amazing. Director is Lars von Trier, creator of Dogville, or Riget.
